Patient and procedure information is entered via interfaces to the surgery center’s information systems and sent to a “gateway” computer, where the data is converted to standard rapid sEquence™ format.

The rapid sEquence design is inherently robust and fault tolerant, and able to respond to unexpected events without losing data. In single provider situations, rapid sEquence is self-contained and does not require an active connection to a centralized computer during medical procedures. When a connection is available, the data is sent to a “gateway” computer, where it accepts data in the surgery center’s information system, converts it to standard rapid sEquence format, distributes it to the client, receives completed case data from the client, and returns the completed case data to the surgery center’s system.

The illustration shows a multiple-provider situation—keep in mind that the rapid sEquence software suite can be accessed by a virtually unlimited number of users in your network. Data can also be recorded at multiple locations. Another feature highly valued by anesthesia providers is the software’s messaging capabilities. An in-room provider needing assistance or relief can quickly send an instant notification requesting help from another provider. Also, the supervising anesthesia physician can monitor cases on a mobile machine, tablet, or laptop, utilizing a wireless network connection from anywhere in the surgical suite.

The double password-protected information can then be accessed by any computer in the network—medical centers, your anesthesia office and even at home.
